Learning Outcome:

The goal of this course is to become familiar with interventions with “children in distress”, more specific in crisis and mental health emergencies of children and adolescents in the context of education

Contents:

This course focuses on the “Education of Mental Health Emergency” as an own discipline. Against the background of understanding specific aspects of distressing emergencies and the reactions children and adolescents we discuss models of intervention. On that basis I want to focus on psychogenic distress in emergencies in facilities of education: school and kindergarten. Specific communication and professional skills will be introduced. Different types of emergencies in facilities of education such as traumatic death, suicide, school shooting and their meaning for children, teachers and parents will be discussed.

Methods:

Presentation, discussion, regular written and oral contribution by participants

Assessment:

Presentation, oral and written.

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
