Goal: At this level the Learner can introduce himself/herself and others and answer questions about personal details; he/she can interact in a simple way provided the interlocutor speaks clearly and slowly and is prepared to help. Introduction to Arabic alphabet
Topics:
the area of Arabic-Islamic culture; greeting and saying goodbye; travelling; the weather; your circle of friends/visitors; numbers; money/currency; shopping/at the market
Linguistic Goals:
to recognize/link/pronounce Arabic letters/graphemes; to introduce yourself; to ask people about their family/where they live/come from; to ask for information on a place; to orient yourself in a town; to inform others about your profession/the weather; to describe people and objects
Structural Goals:
Arabic letters/graphemes; pronunciation; nouns; sifat (adjective) - to describe a person or an object in some detail; ziruf (adverb) - to characterize something; personal pronouns; personal suffixes - to indicate possession; simple prepositions; questions; tasrif (introduction to the present tense conjugation) - to express actions in the immediate present; Arabic-Hindi numbers
