Goal: B1
At this level the learner can understand the main ideas, if the other person uses the standard dialect and talks about familiar matters like work, school, leisure; he/she can tackle most situations which could arise whilst travelling in the country where the language is spoken; he/she can express him-/herself in simple and coherent sentences on familiar topics and areas of interest; can talk about experiences and events; can describe dreams, hopes and goals; can give reasons/ explanations for their plans and views.
Topics:
things and objects; feelings; plans, intentions, arrangements; homes and housings; people and places; now and then; opinions
Linguistic Goals:
to ask about something; describe objects; say how you feel; give and respond to news; to apologise; to talk about plans and arrangements; to make/change arrangements; to discuss pros and cons; to talk about past habits and states; express and respond to opinions; to have a discussion; to take part in a meeting
Structural Goals:
“some and any” – to express availability/presence; passive – to express actions in the passive voice; present perfect tense – to tell news; “would” – to express possibilities; infinitive and gerund – to use of verb patterns; “used to” – to express past habits and states; conditionals – to talk about conditions and their consequences
