Goal: At this level the learner can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic sentences aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type: shopping, visiting somebody, understanding an invitation; can interact in a simple way provided the other person speaks clearly and slowly and is prepared to help.
Topics:
shopping; hobbies; a trip to Japan; a dinner at a friend's home; aspects of Japanese culture (telephone, visiting a friend's home)
Linguistic Goals:
to describe yourself and others; to give simple information about things; to cause one’s own acts; to give information about one's hobbies, preferences and strong points; to order something at the café; to understand and use Japanese phrases on the phone/ visiting somebody /at the dinner; to make an appointment
Structural Goals:
Katakana and Hiragana writing systems and to learn additional Kanji-ideograms; „taidesu-form – to express one’s own wish to do something; conjugation of the „i“ and „na“-adjectives - to describe abstract qualities; past forms of adjectives; conjunctive particles: „kara“ to conveys a reason, „ga“ to show that something else is in contrast with what you first said
