The aim of this lecture is to enable to understand, analyze, and critically assess bioethical arguments.

First we analyze concepts that play crucial roles in bioethical arguments, concepts like: human life, human being, person, persistence, individual, soul, species, potentiality. Further we analyze some views as to the moral value of actions at the beginning and the end of a human life.
