Competent knowledge of 16th / 17th century philosophy.

The aim of the seminary is focusing on philosophical developments which mark the beginning of the so called “modern age”. We will study primary works of leading 16th  / 17th century philosophers (in German translations): Macchiavelli (Il principe), Bacon (Novum organon), Suarez (disputatio about the principle of individuation).

Student presentations, group discussions.

Seminar paper.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
