The complex connectedness of modern societies due to the growth of the Internet, the ease of global communication, and the ability of news and information as well as epidemics and (financial) crisis to spread with considerable speed and intensity has considerably changed our social and economic environment and therefore attracted a lot of attention by economic research during the last decade. The course introduces into key theories of the structure and evolution of social and economic networks and analyzes the impact of stronger societal and economical connectvity on markets.
