The seminar introduces the central concepts of the biographical approach in social sciences. Over the years there have been several research projects in adult education using biographical methods to understand the meaning learning in adult life. Some of the results will be presented and discussed.

Biographical approaches are also used in adult education practice. A number of selected concepts will be introduced.

The final discussion will focus on how to support biographical learning in different learning arrangements. This will include the asking what this mean in terms of professional development of adult educators.
