Familiarization with concepts, contexts, and theories of American Cultural Studies.

The course serves as an introduction to American Cultural Studies. We will explore approaches to American culture and survey basic theoretical, cultural, and media-related concepts.

Lecture inputs, discussion, group project

Final test, reading and writing assignments, group project

Further reading material will be discussed in the first lesson.

Prerequisite for the Bachelor Program: none

For the Diploma Program (343): elective compulsory subject.

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (teacher training program - BA/MA English and American Studies), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
