612010 Seminar in Literary, Cultural or Media Studies: Literary Sarajevo

Researching, collecting, selecting, translating and discussing fiction, travel literature and historical documents portraying and representing the atmosphere and diverse history of Sarajevo from its foundation by the Ottomans until today.
At the end we are looking to publish an anthology and literary travel guide illustrating the experiences of a city and its interpretations through selected works and pieces of literature. The book will be published as part of the series “Europa Erlesen” of publishing house Wieser Verlag Klagenfurt under the title of “Sarajevo”. We want to include works of literature from as many countries as possible but a particular focus will be on German and Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian literature.
Students are expected to actively engage in research, discussion, selection and translation of texts (into German) as well as to work in teams and cooperate with all participants.

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (teacher training programs/specialized degree programs), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
