After this course students can plan and teach business English lessons. Furthermore, they can reflect on their teaching and can, together with other students or with teachers, evaluate and improve it. Moreover, students will be equipped with the skills to evaluate teaching materials, to adapt them or to produce their own.
First, we will define the meaning of the term "Business English" in various BHS-curricula. Then we will analyze current textbooks with a view to how well they do their job. We will also take a look at material for adults and at textbooks that are not included in the Schulbuchaktion. Secondly, the course deals with Business English with regard to: • correspondence / email • practical tasks such as making telephone calls, giving presentations, socializing, negotiating etc. • selected micro- and macro-economic topics • topics like business ethics, globalization, intercultural aspects of doing business etc. Thirdly, students will be introduced to the teaching method eCOOL, to the use of educational platforms and software such as Moodle, Hot Potatoes, Quandary, TexToys, Eclipse etc. and to the electronic marking application Markin.
