Students acquire basic knowledge of the content of the literary and material surroundings of Middle Eastern literature.

A comprehensive survey of the Ancient Near Eastern Literature. Poetry and prose. Problems of classification. Language, diction, and style. The literary legacy reflects societal attitudes, realities, and imagination. It tells of the values, sentiments, and ideals of Mesopotamians.

Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.
