Basic knowledge on modern history, particularly in the subject areas of society, economy and culture (1500-1914)

The lecture provides an overview of the history of central and western Europe from about 1500 until the eve of the First World War. Special attention is paid to the dimensions of society, economy and culture. Furthermore, the effects of methodical innovations in historical research on the interpretation of modern processes of change are dealt with.

Lecture with discussion; accompanying reading and work in OLAT
