Acquisition of competences in dealing with historical sources and secondary literature on Austrian History as well as the ability to present the newly-acquired knowledge in oral or written form; the acquisition of awareness and the use of relevant scientific methods; acquisition of an awareness of the forms of historical self-display and the ability to present historical relationships on-site

Using the examples of selected topics in Austrian history questions and problems of the events and developements in the 'long 19th century' (1789 - 1914/18) will be discussed

Working instructions, private study, short written assignments, oral and written presentation, discussion

Course with continuous performance assessment: attendance at all sessions, regular and active participation in discussions, oral presentation and handout, written paper (10-15 pages)

basic literature will be announced in the course; research of further specific literature is part of the students´tasks.

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (teacher training programs/specialized degree programs), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
