It shall be acquired theoretical knowledge about the problems in the foundation of psychological research

The seminar will discuss problems in the foundation of psychological research which are situated between the poles of scientific, social and  ethical requirements.

Specifically, it will be worked on the following subjects: the justification of validity of psychological research results, quantitative vs. qualitative research, the postulate of the applicability of psychological knowledge, the influence of society on the development, justification and use of psychological research results, the requirements for an ethically legitimized research and the research orientation of a critical psychology.

The problems in the foundation of psychological research provided for the seminar are first presented in general, then demonstrated and illustrated in an exemplary way for the psychological experiment, the psychometric diagnostics and the behavioral psychology. For better understanding, a glossary of basic terms is provided as a handout.
