Human Rights law rule undoubtedly is the validity condition of the claim that every man and woman on this earth is free and enjoys equal dignity and respect of his and her rights and duties. This claim was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1948. The seminar investigates the different philosophical theories and Christian beliefs that contributed to the text of the Universal Declaration of 1948 as a compromise of the different world views of the nations that belong to the United Nations. The Christian terms ‘vulnerability’ and ‘protection of the human dignity’ will be discussed for their capacity to describe an authentic Christian foundation of the Human Rights as they are spelled out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rigths.
