224505 The "Hellenistic Judaism" as a mental condition for the early Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism
winter semester 2015/2016 | Last update: 20.10.2015 | Place course on memo listPresentation of Hellenistic Judaism and its implications for the early Judaism and Christianity based on presentations and discussions, the students should understand the common roots of Judaism and Christianity from the common resource of Hellenistic Judaism and the meaning of the Hellenistic Diaspora as for the further development of both religions learn to understand common constitutive element.
As a "Hellenistic Judaism" is called the one hand the intellectual and religious currents of the 3rd century BC to 1st century AD in Judea, on the other hand also in this period strongly influenced by the Greek spirit world early Diaspora Judaism. The Jesus movement was a phenomenon of Hellenistic Judaism. Therefore, early Christianity and rabbinic Judaism had so much in common. At the same time they distanced themselves increasingly interdependent. The common spiritual roots of both religions should be worked out in this lecture.
Oral examination on the lecture material and self-study of a work from the recommended at the start of the course reading list.
