Broadened skills for exemplary analysis and independent examination of theories and models; critical handling of methods of empirical Communication Analysis.

Contents:

Discussing on the effects of media, critical voices tend to a destructive position, particularly concerning the development of TV. But are they right? Which are the criteria to distinguish between good and bad?

Methods:

Discussion of different theories and models, sample analysis

Assessment:

Presentation, term paper

Literature:

Will be discussed in the first lesson.

Prerequisites:

Master programme Media: none
Master programme German Philology: positive completion of compulsory module 5 and elective module 1

Remarks:

Recommended for 3rd semester Master Programme Media Studies and 3rd semester Master Programme German Philology. Students of Master Programme Media have priority.
