To provide an overview of central aspects of English and American Studies and familiarize students with basic research skills and methods

This course serves as a basic introduction to English and American Studies. It offers both an outline and an overview of core concepts of English and American Studies. It aims at familiarizing students with the most important research tools and skills required in the course of their studies. Students will learn to effectively use library catalogues, bibliographical indices, and online resources for different types of research output such as papers, presentations, discussions as well as written and oral exams.

Prerequisite for the Bachelor Program (612): none

For the Teacher Training Program (Lehramtsstudium: 344): UE2 Induction.
