Acquisition of knowledge on the developmental periods of the Russian language. Comprehension of their reflexes in contemporary Russian.

The lecture provides a survey of the historical development of the Slavic labguages, in particular of the Russian language from its beginnings (first written monuments of the 11th c.) until the present. Phenomena of historical phonetics and grammar (including the influence of (Old) Church Slavonic) are selected and presented with special attention to their reflexes in modern Slavic languages.

Alternation of survey lectures and analyses of texts.

Written examination.
