To reach a good B2 level according to the Common European Framework.

Contents:

Developing listening and reading skills, vocabulary building.

Methods:

Course sessions are based on materials provided by the instructor. Students are encouraged to contribute to classroom activities by choosing their own materials of interest, e.g. song lyrics and video clips. Classroom activities will be supplemented by intensive, guided self-study. The course is also meant to be a forum for discussions on self-learning strategies.

Assessment:

Students studying English as their first language (STEOP): one written course exam at the end of the course.

Students studying English as their second language: two written tests.

Michael Mc Carthy, Felicity O'Dell. English Vocabulary in Use. Advanced. Cambridge University Press. (Available at the Studia, above the University Library, or in any other bookshop.)

Remarks:

This module consists of 6 hours weekly overall and it is obligatory to attend this class in conjunction with 613109 and 613113.
