winter semester 2015/2016 | Last update: 25.01.2016 | Place course on memo listTreatment of a specialized field of contemporary history on the basis of the actual scholarly debates. Expansion and consolidation of specific knowledge in the field of contemporary history by examination of new and uncommon topics, taking into account current tendencies and controversies of research.
The focus of this course lies on the Digital Humanities with an emphasis on digital historiography. Transdisciplinary questions, such as the classification of Digital Humanities as a separate academic discipline, will be discussed. However, theoretical as well as methodological challenges of digital research and academia to history will be at the center of the course. We will also look into specific approaches, tools, best practices, initiatives and projects on an international and transdisciplinary level and their influence on historiography.
