Impartment of historical knowledge about the society and culture of the Ancient Near East.
Everyday life in Mesopotamia, stages of life and issues of gender and sexuality
- childhood and youth: pregnancy, birth, child education
- period of maturity: family, occupations and professions
- old age: illness and death
Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (BA Classica et Orientalia 2009/BA History 2009 and BA Classica et Orientalia 2015/BA History 2015), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
