The seminar will reflect on the terms "labor" and "working-class culture" and we will take a look at theoretical and literary texts as well as examples of films, which deal with the issues of "labor" and "working class culture" from an intermedial perspective. The aim of the seminar is to look at theoretical, social, political, historical, literary and aesthetic aspects of the topic.

Possible aspects and topics: theoretical aspects of labor and working-class culture; labor in the social reportage; "Werkkreis Literatur der Arbeitswelt": literary texts of workers; old and new economy; labor in the visual arts; labor in film; phenomena of globalization and labor today; labor and working-class culture in the "Cultural Studies".

Lecture, discussion, extensive reading, presentation, short presentation.

Cooperation, presentation, short paper, seminar paper (25 pages).
