Deepening and extension of the knowledge of the nomenclature and stereochemistry of organic compounds presented in the lecture “Basics of Organic Chemistry” given by Prof. R. MICURA and demonstrated by further examples covering especially drugs.

• Nomenclature of fused ring systems
• Radicofunctional nomenclature, Conjunctive nomenclature, Nomenclature of identical units
• Naming of drugs according to ÖAB and EuPharm
• International Nonpropietary names
• Axial and central chirality
• Synthesis of enantiomerically pure compounds

Oral lecture given in the first three weeks of October with multicolour-slides projected by a beamer. All slides are available to students in OLAT.

Written tests offered twice after the end of the lecture and three times each term.
