Participants obtain basic knowledge in questions related to knowledge and technology transfer and intellectual property (IP) rights within the academic environment ,basic knowledge about IP protection mechanisms and protection strategies, knowledge in patent- and copyright law with focus on Life Sciences and IT, knowledge in employee inventions, workflow, contact persons, technology transfer supporting units at Innsbruck university.
Overview on Intellectual property and knowledge- and technology transfer: Generation of IP in the academic environment, third mission, University strategies related to IP
Overview on IP protection: Patents, utility models, designs, trademarks, copyright and copyright vs. other types of protection (trade secrets, confidential information)
Patent right: Principles and criteria for patentability, national patent rights, European patent convention, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), special regulations in certain International Patent rights (USA)
Copyright: Software and databases
Employee inventions at Innsbruck University: invention disclosure, duties and rights, remuneration for inventors
Management of Intellectual Property: Technology Transfer Units at Innsbruck University, Overwiew on valuation of Intellectual property, exploitation of IP (R&D Cooperation, Licensing, sale, enterprise)
