Basic knowledge about the fields of science which are of special relevance for the human self-understanding (e.g. physical cosmology and evolutionary biology) and their history. Ability to autonomous critical evaluation of the frequent philosophical extrapolations from them.

Conceptions of nature - Laws of nature - Causality - Explanation - History and philosophical backgrounds of evolutionary biology - Biology and world-view.

Lecture with discussion.

Written exam.
