o understand a (micro)politcal perspective as well as behavioural theories on decision-making processes in the context of organisation/organising and human resource management; to understand organising as social process and organisational culture as an important factor of organisations; to get a differentiated understanding of structures and rules of organisations; to understand different approaches and ideas of organisational change management; to get profound knowledge on societal influences on human resource management (HRM); to get basic knowlege on different fields of human resource management (e.g. recruiting, appraisals, compensation, co-determination) and to be able to discuss critical aspects of managing these fields; to have knowledge of different tools of HRM (like job interviews, appraisal systems, employer branding) and to be able to evaluate the potential and limitations of these different tools particularly using a political perspective; students develop social and personal skills by presenting their work, working together in groups and discussing issues of HRM in class.

Different approaches to understand organisations; (micro)politics and behavioural theories on decision-making as theoretical frameworks, organisational structures, organizing as a social process, organizational cultures, change management; societal framework of HRM, recruitment and selection, induction of new employees, performance appraisals, training and development, leading, working time, compensation, participation and co-determination, tools of HRM.

The lecture focuses on inputs by the lecturers; additionally we discuss issues of organzation and HRM as well as case studies and analyse scenes from films or short texts.

The content of the lecture forms the main basis for the final exam on the course basics of management - organization and human resource management.
