Literary analysis and interpretation of texts: ‚Female writing‘ in the 18th century epistolary novel   Sophie Mereau(-Brentano): Amanda and Eduard and  Sophie von La Roche: Story of mademoiselle von Sternheim

Considering the background of sentimental (‚female‘) writing and the genesis of the epistolary novel in the 18th century we will interpret together the anonym published Story of mademoiselle von Sternheim from Sophie von La Roche, edited by Christoph Martin Wieland (Leipzig 1771) and Sophie Mereau: Amanda and Eduard (Frankfurt 1803). Our interpretation will be based on a narratological analysis and we will discuss main aspects so as the paratextual composition, the perspective and the instance of the narration.
