Language and cognition

The seminar will investigate how cognitive processes relate to language processes. Does language influence cognition? What do idiots savants and autistic individuals tell us about the relationship between language and cognition? How does linguistic development and cognitive development relate? What influence does language development have on cognitive development?

relevant topics:

learning difficulties, language problems, language processing, social interactionism, genetic epistemology, innatism, emergentism,autopoietic processes, 

you will be asked to contribute to the discussion, work in groups, jointly present a topic and write a paper you can coauthor if you so wish. you are furthermore expected to have doen the required reading
