Future GW-teachers discover the possibilities of geography lessons in the great outdoors and try various suggestions in practice. The target product (seminar paper) reflects one part of an excursion programm for teenagers that will be put into practice later in the year in and around Obergurgl. The base of the excursion is the University Centre in Obergurgl, excursions will take place "within hiking distance" (Rotmoos Valley up to the glaciers etc.), yet will always take many hours, so participants should be used to hiking in the mountains and have high alpine equipment on them (warm clothes, mountain boots etc.).

The choice of topics thus circles around the subject matters "quality of life" and "climate change": life in an alpine village, what does good life mean in an Alpine context etc., glaciers/snow/moranes, tree line, change in vegetation, vegetation on ski pistes, tourism in Obergurgl, technical adaptation etc.  All topics must be relevant for the surroundings of Obergurgl and in general.

Two people prepare one topic for an excursion together and execute that excursion personally as well. All other course members will obviously participate in these excursions. Some costs for travels, accomodation, food etc. will arise. The first session will take place in March, then you will have a creative break, interrupted only by a common session for all your questions. The excursions will take place in a blocked session round the University Centre Obergurgl in the Ötztaler Alps. Let us find the exact proceedings and dates together in the first session.

The learning settings for the excursions plus the quality of the execution of the excursion are part of the mark. A seminar paper will also have to be handed in after the excursion, including all ideas about content, methodolgy and education plus the final teaching materials for future excursions.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO HAVE READ THE FOLLOWING PAPERS BEFORE THE SEMINAR STARTS (THIS IS VITAL):
