Oriental Languages: Introduction to the comparative Semitic grammar

The course offers an introduction into the Semitic languages through their geographic distribution and gives an overview over the different Semitic scripts (from syllabic writing to the alphabet) and the shared grammatical characteristics (phonology, morphology).

Basic knowledge about the development of Semitic languages.

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (BA Classica et Orientalia 2009 and BA Classica et Orientalia 2015), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
