The students acquire knowledge in perceiving, evaluating and explaining the various forms of historical traces in the public space of a town like Černivci (Czernowitz, Ukraine). They enlarge their competences to deconstruct these traces und to present the results of their analytical research. To aim at the publication students learn to pursue their research to the final editing procedures.
The students analyze the storage of memories in public space in the context of the west-ukrainian town Černivci (Czernowitz). What kind of traces of the various political dominance emerged after the fall of the Iron Curtain? How did the forms of (public) memory change? Interdisciplinary exchange and its relevance in practical field work will enable them with various methods to deal with these historical traces.
Illustration locally (using the example of historical sites, museums, places of memory, etc.) and increase knowledge; Linking interdisciplinary argumentation with concrete examples.
Willingness to research and discussion, presentations of students. Guided tours in the field. Postprocessing for the publication.

The excursion will last 10 days and takes place between September 18th – 30th 2016. The precise date and the prize will be announced at an information evening, January 27th 2016, 19.00, room 40601. The attendance of the corresponding course "EX-645.209 " is obligatory. The attendance of 645.212 (SE ÖGII) is recommended.
