Agriculture is one canonic field of research in Cultural Anthropology. In this course students are getting familiar with this field by reading one of the latest studies on the topic and by doing ethnographic fieldwork themselves.

Taking Thomas Flieges study on farmers' families and their daily lives as a starting point the students are going to practice participant observation and interviewing to collect qualitative empirical data in the field of culture of agriculture. These data propably could serve as a basis for writing a BA-Thesis.

Discussion of Flieges study, ethnographic fieldwork, interpretation of qualitative data by procedures of open-coding.
