Students get to know and understand facets of migration routes of refugees from Eritrea in an interdisciplinary perspective.

The course deals with multiple yet concrete moments in refugees' migration routes and discusses them both inside and outside academia. Eritreans are a major group for asylum requests in Europe and Eritrea is taken as a regional example for this course. Besides also addressing a non-academic public, guest speakers will have academic as well as artistic, activist and social work backgrounds.

Three stages of routes from Eritrea will be addressed:

- Eritrea as region of origin

- kidnapping, human trafficking and torture in the Sinai

- Eritreans as asylum seekers in Europe and their complex relationship between european and eritrean politics
