This is an introductory course on numerical Monte Carlo simulations of quantum many-body systems. The students learn the basic principles for the implementation of Quantum Monte Carlo algorithms and the understanding of current simulations in the fields of cold quantum gases and condensed matter.
Monte Carlo sampling, world-lines and stochastic series expansion quantum Monte Carlo (QMC), fermionic sign problem, auxiliary field QMC, diagrammatic monte Carlo methods, impurity solver, hybrid Monte Carlo, applications.
Lecture, assessment is based on an examination at the end of the course.
Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations".
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
Quantum Mechanics I and II.
