Understanding of important concepts in physiology

Physiology deals with the "functioning" of organisms and how this functioning is achieved by the cooperation of the different parts. Basic aspects of the follwing topics are treated: structure and function, growth (batch and continuous culture), bioenergetics (especially across membranes), membrane transport (uptake of nutrients), metabolism (regulations, stress responses). The focus is on the understanding of basic concepts and the application of these concepts to real world examples by means of calculations.
