Ability to deal in a philosophically appropriate way with questions about free will.
According to Thomas Aquinas human beings are masters of their actions through reason and will. But how do we have to understand this? Is Aquinas a compatibilist or a libertarian? And is he right?
We read texts from the Summa Theologiae and discuss them.
Seminar paper.
Thomas von Aquin, Summa Theologiae I-II, 1,1-3; 6, 1-8, etc.
Further literature will be presented during the seminar.

This seminar will be continued in the course 202513 during the summer term 2017, probably as a block (a weekend in Italy).
