Reading an important late medieval document about the doctrine and the practice of the eucharist in its original language

The exposition of the canon of the mass by the Tübingen theologian Gabriel Biel (first print 1488) is a sum of the medieval thought and discussions about the eucharist, its celebration, its prayer texts and the most important theological and canonical questions related to it. At the end of the middle ages the book was used - e. g. by Martin Luther - as a handbook for preparation to priesthood. In the seminar, we will read short coherent portions of the extensive text (about 1300 pages in the modern printed edition!) and analyse them, especially concerning the sources used and cited by Biel.
