Introduction to public economics - At the end of the course students should be able to answer the following questions: Why do we need a public sector from an economic point of view? Which instruments does the state use for intervention in the private sector? How do public revenues (taxes) and public expenditures change the behavior in the private sector (savings, consumption structure, labour supply) ?

Welfare economics, public goods, externalities, political economy, income redistribution, tax incidence, taxation and efficiency, optimal taxation
