In our course, we will read and discuss texts by Cassirer, Heidegger, Husserl, Jaspers, Natorp, Borkenau and Bӧhm.

Descartes is conceived as the father of new philosophy. His influence on the development of philosophy, ethics, politics and mathematics is enormous. It is obvious, for example, in the stipulation to conduct philosophy according to geometrical model as well as to trace back any perception to the ego cogito as the highest epistemological instance of validity. Since Descartes conceived the mens as equal in all human, his philosophy contributed to undermining the society division to classes.

In order to consolidate their philosophy, philosophers see themselves obliged to deal with Descartes philosophy, refute or approve it. Thus, the influence of Descartes’ philosophy continues in the present.

All texts are compiled in pdf reader. Participants should get acquainted with the texts. In each meeting we will present one text and thoroughly discuss it.
