The aim of this course is to discuss scholarly methods and literary and cultural theories for the writing of theses as well as individual outlines of theses, in order to provide helpful feedback in regard to contents, form, and methodology.

This course is primarily for students writing their M.A. thesis, but anyone else interested is welcome. The aim is to discuss recent methods and theories of scholarship and research.

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contributions by participants).

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations"

Will be discussed in the first lesson.

Prerequisite for the Master's Programme: positive completion of compulsory module 4

For the Diploma Programme (Diplomstudium: 343): KO2: American Literature and Culture (elective compulsory subject).

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (teacher training program - BA/MA English and American Studies), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
