The following graphic novels will be studied and analysed in depth:
Marjane Satrapi, Persepolis (2000-2003)
Emmanuel Guibert/Frédéric Lemercier/Didier Lefèvre, Le photographe (2003-2006)
Jacques Tardi/Jean-Pierr Verney, Putain de guerre! 1914-1918 (2008-2009)
Jacques Ferrandez/Albert Camus, L'hôte (2009)
Chloé Cruchaudet, Mauvais genre (2011)
Riad Sattouf, L'Arabe du futur (2014)
(1) Theoretical introduction in form of lectures
(2) Group work or plenum : analysis of texts and stagings
(3) written paper
Assessment criteria:
(a) regular and active participation
(b) complete and commented reading of all graphic novels discussed in this course
(c) presentation on a topic defined at the beginning of the term
(d) written paper (10 to 12 pages; deadline: 3rd of February 2017)
(e) final test
