Preparing remains and historical sources about a school's history for history lessons

Learning about school history has a strong connection to the learners themselves and to the present. These are great preconditions for historical learning. Peter Gautschi therefore claims a museum for every school (Gautschi, Peter: A Museum for Every School! In: Public History Weekly 4 (2016) 8, DOI: dx.doi.org/10.1515/phw-2016-5589). In the first part of the lecture students will be searching for remains and historical sources about the history of a school, for example note- and textbooks, old class photos, school chronicles and notes from conferences. The aim is to put these materials in a larger context and to prepare them for history lessons.
