Becoming familiar with different methodological approaches in History and Political Education to the museum as a place of learning beyond the classroom
In the course, students will explore possibilities to integrate visits to museums in History, Social Studies and Political Education lessons. By means of case studies in the region, the course will not only address the educational offers of museum institutions, but – based on current paradigms in Teaching Methodology in History and Political Education – students will also develop their own didactic models. Special focus will be put on training the preparation of skills-oriented and targeted tasks for learning and testing situations. This will also include a systematic museum analysis, as well as the evaluation of the offers provided by museum institutions.
Presentation, discussion, continuous reflection on learning processes; the course is based on a blended-learning concept. Therefore, computer skills are a prerequisite.
Continuous assessment course with mandatory attendance: active participation and contributions to the discussion
Carrying out smaller tasks (reading of specialized literature, analyses of exhibitions, compiling learning scenarios) throughout the academic term. Revision of said tasks and reflection on the leaning processes in the form of a portfolio.
