Critical assessment of Roman historiography.

Introduction to Roman historiography. Discussion of the possibilities and limitations of interpretations of historiographic sources by the means of selected examples. Discussion of the historiographic material in the context of different types of sources (e.g.: coins, inscriptions). Critical assessment of the research literature.

Combination of lecture, reading tasks and presentations of the participants.

Participation in discussions, presentation.

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
