640022 Ancient History I: Migration - a central Phenomenon in the History of Mankind
winter semester 2016/2017 | Last update: 14.09.2023 | Place course on memo listThe course aims at analysing migration within a typological framework, taking into consideration as well the political and social measures related to the phenomenon.
The course focuses on specific topics related to the general issue of migration. The chronological framework ranges from the Ancient Near East through contemporary times.
Overview of recent debates and problems.
Apart from a detailed preliminary and debriefing session the papers presented during the international meeting „Migration – ein zentrales Phänomen der Menschheitsgeschichte“ constitute the main part of the course.
Two papers given at the conference „Migration – ein zentrales Phänomen der Menschheitsgeschichte“ have to be analysed and discussed (content, approach, discussion and assessment; 5-6 pages).
