Analysis of written and material sources; Sharpening the source-critical competencies; Critical evaluation of specific research literature.

Perception and understanding of labor and different fields of activity in the Ancient World, explanation of terms. Insights into different working environments through written and material sources from the Ancient Near East, Egypt and the Greek and Roman world (for example: farm work, crafts, services, contract work) by historical comparison. Gender-specific areas of activity are taken into account. Relevant literature will be announced in the course.
