Learning Outcome:

Students acquire an overview of the main works of Ancient Near Eastern literature.

Contents:

A comprehensive survey of the Ancient Near Eastern Literature. Poetry and prose. Problems of classification. Language, diction, and style. The literary legacy reflects societal attitudes, realities, and imagination. It tells of the values, sentiments, and ideals of Mesopotamians.

Methods:

Lecture, assessment is based on a single examination at the end of the course.

Assessment:

written exam at the end of the semester
