Knowledge of basic theories and methods in the field of identity and development. Related critical thinking skills, and their application in contexts of psychological practice.

The seminar is concerned with fundamental theories of identity, self, and development within the life span. It presents approaches to the psychological understanding of identity ranging from self-perception to forms of social self, temporally extended self, conceptually reflected self, autobiographical, narrative, and life-story based constructions of self. Discussion of these approaches allows seminar participants to realize different theoretical perspectives and their contexts of application.

Lectures, discussion, group work

Grading is based on active participation during the seminar and a final oral exam.
